Nelle notti è rimasto un po’ di quel silenzio, anche se la vita avrebbe dovuto tornare ad essere quella di prima. O quasi.
Nelle notti è rimasto più di quel silenzio, non ci sono le ambulanze, vicine, lontane, onnipresenti.
Nelle notti è rimasta quella strana sensazione di vuoto, che se trattieni il respiro e tendi l’orecchio puoi sentire… Nulla.
Che poi è un silenzio strano, quello di queste notti, perché in altre notti se vai da solo su una montagna qualcosa senti: il vento tra gli alberi, qualche animale incauto e forse, dal fondovalle, lo scorrere della vita umana. Quella di prima, ovviamente.
In queste notti, mi basta uscire di casa per accorgermi di qualcosa di insolito. Allora mi fermo per mettermi in ascolto e l’unica cosa che riesco a sentire è un ronzio. Ma lo percepisco dentro la mia testa. Fuori non c’è nulla. E col fatto che è pure buio, ma proprio buio, mi pare di essere in una di quelle scene al rallentatore di “2001: odissea nello spazio”. Questo potrebbe essere “2021: un’altra odissea”.
Quando finalmente appoggio con fragore il bidone del vetro a terra ritorno nella vita reale. Per fortuna che il tragitto per portar fuori lo sporco è breve!

I tried to use Google translate and actually the rendering in English is a mess. Just think that it translates “sentire” as “to feel” and not “to hear”. In Italian we use the same word, but obviously the meaning changes according to the context. I’m so sorry. Maybe I should translate by myself, but I’m not sure I can do it. If I can, I’ll write it to you in response to your comment.

Yes, that’s the problem with Google translate, it just does a word for word translation and does not take context into account. I wish I was better at learning languages, at least to read. I was able to read French quite easily at one time but I didn’t keep at it. Translating is not always easy!
