This post is for my friend Steve who lives in Canada. He always posts beautiful photos of his Land and tells stories, memories, nature walks, daily meetings with the local wildlife and much more. He also shows a lot of flowers and he knows the name of all of them. If you want to take a look at his site, you can find him at stevescountry.com. He is a person with great sensitivity and is also very funny.
So, Steve, this is for you.
I premise that I don’t know nothing about flowers.
Today, while I was hiking at 2400 metres, I saw some beautiful flowers that I would like you to see. The place is called Lazaun Alp and it is located in the Italian Alps on the border with the Austrian ones.
The first flowers that struck me were near a tiny alpine lake. I’ve never seen anything like this in my whole life. Below you will find some shots.

Most of the ground is covered by innumerable juniper plants.

And in the middle of all this wonder sometimes there are some little flowers. Here you are other shots.

I hope you enjoyed my selection of flowers. Have a nice monday!
That was fantastic! I loved all those wildflowers! Those bell flowers are like ours, the 4th one up from the bottom is a member of the cinquefoil family, the junipers look just like ours and I couldn’t believe when I saw those white flowers which I call fluff flowers, they are just like the ones we have. I have tried for years to identify them but without success. The only one that has ever escaped me for identification. Now I need to try again! Thank you so much for this, I truly enjoyed it!! And thanks for all you said about me as well, so much appreciated!! This is a first for me, thanks again, enjoy the remainder of your day!😃😺

You’re welcome Steve. I am pleased that you enjoyed the flowers I found in these mountains and it does not surprise me that they are similar to those in your land. In fact the climate seems very similar. I am also pleased that you have already seen those white flowers, for me it was the first time. I hope you can identify them!

Yes, being higher in the mountains the climate would be more like it is here, so flowers and plants would be similar and maybe even exactly the same variety.😁🌼🌻

I finally found out what those white fluffy flowers are, by looking at your pictures I decided they must be a type of grass. Sure enough, it is cottongrass, found here across Canada, Europe and northern Asia. Thanks so much for reminding me of this one that I haven’t actually seen for quite a while now. Great to finally know what it is! Enjoy your week! Do you mind if I reprint this on my blog? You will get full credit for it of course!😃😺
